Yesterday was my 30th birthday!!! Madness. We celebrated it this past Saturday and I’m so thankful for my lovely friends who partied it up with me
Went to view a 2 bedroom townhouse. Unfortunately it was very very tiny and they weren’t finished building the complex yet and the last thing we need is more construction noise in our lives after having dealt with it for the like 3 years now!!
The place was really nice and modern and the price was ok. But because of the construction, the size and lack of alarm, properly fenced backyard (the neighbors can just walk into your backyard), dstv and telephone line we said no thank you.
Had to share this photo that Zané posted on Facebook haha. On our way home after a night out – looking like a pack of zombies. AWESOME
Just got back from Greenacres now – had to pick up my new eye glasses at Specsavers. They are actually mens glasses but I don’t really care, I like them. They only cool pair I could find! What do you guys think? I don’t have to wear them all the time but I’m trying to get used to them now. Will have to wear them while watching TV and driving. So lets hope I can get my drivers license soon haha
As soon as I stepped outside I had to take my jacket off (YAY) because it’s a stunning day here in PE today :):)
Last night was girls night for me, Nikki, Taryn and Melanie. It was so much fun – had a great time! We had wine at the Boardwalk Hotel with “the band” playing live music haha the band was actually just one guy but he was cool, except for his pointy toe shoes. Then we went to Pool City and rocked to amazing aKING playing live. Standing right in front of the stage and next to one of the speakers my poor ears are struggling a bit today – totally worth it! I seriously love aKING. And they were all cool and down to earth so I just love them even more now I was like a 14 year old girl watching Justin Bieber live haha not really but VERY excited Singing along to all the songs and dancing with the girls was awesome! Felt a little bad that Ryan missed it. He and Martin had a guys night in hehe.
Hey everyone Monday again – even though I don’t exactly work mondays are still kinda boring. Even the weather is boring today. So to cheer myself up I stopped by Woolworths and bought myself a new necklace and a hair cuff. I love the hair cuff – it’s rose gold (obviously not real gold haha) and matches my MK watch Also got a whole bunch of fruits and healthy stuff. Been craving fruit and chocolates lately. Feels like I eat chocolate every day haha and I pretty much do. Dark 75% Lindt is my favorite.. and the mint crisp one. Got a few other things as well like a new mascara, lipgloss, and nail polish – nothing too exciting tho. Now I’m just ‘keeping up with the Kardashians‘ and keeping on looking for a place to live. Relaxing today – have a million things to do tomorrow before it’s time to go back to home affairs and hand in my visa papers. Can’t wait to get it over with! It’s always a mission.
Another cool thing is that my ‘brother’ Christian and his sister (very complicated family haha) might be coming to South Africa next month! Yay Nothing booked yet or anything but I’m hoping they will come down to visit.
Hope everyone have had a nice weekend Today I’m just chilling on the couch with my macbook checking Pinterest and googling dogs, interior decorating, apartments and some random stuff here and there haha.
Yesterday I went with Nikki to old Tarantino’s and had calamari and a bottle wine before viewing the flat at King Court. It was too funny haha the guy showing the flat went to use the bathroom and didn’t close the door so Nikki and I stood outside the flat waiting to leave while he took his time in there snorting and flushing haha. The flat was way too small so we won’t be moving in there. After that we drove back home and had a drink with Ryan and Martin before going to their house. We had McDonalds and red wine and watched the rugby… the fantastically boring rugby. Was a nice an chilled night. We had plans on going out but today I’m actually glad we didn’t. Also noticed that it’s time to do some serious closet cleaning.
Here is the Kings Court apartment:
So, yesterday I went to view 4 different (or not so different) apartments. No real luck in finding a place to stay though. The first 3 ones were nice and all but way too small. The 4th one was nice size-wise but the building was too prison like and old. All 4 close to the beach but that didn’t really make a difference.
Going to check another apartment out today at Kings Court. Looks kind of small in the photos but the price is good and it’s close to shops and stuff so I can walk around the area… but no pets allowed…
The first 3 apartments I viewed yesterday were all at Amadada Leisure Village – a very nice eco-friendly place that makes you feel like you are in a completely different place, like out in the middle of the bushes somewhere in a resort like place. Very strange. You forget that the beach is just down the road.
Here is the first apartment I viewed:
So not only is the whole bathroom inside the bedroom a trend but apparently it’s also cool nowadays to combine the kitchen and the living room… So not cool.
Here is the second apartment I viewed – pretty much the same deal as the first one but with nicer ceilings.
The third apartment was the same deal – not a lot of space there neither.
After viewing the Amadada ones I took a stroll down to the beachfront and bought myself an ice cream and then had a cup of coffee at the Humewood hotel. A half dodgy hotel but it was nice to just chill in the sun before my next viewing that was just down the road.
The last place I looked at was in The Beaches in Humewood. Old looking building with heavy security.
On sunday we woke up and had a lovely breakfast at the Trogon House, then we drove to Keurbooms river where we rented a boat. We didn’t swim as we planned on doing cause you couldn’t see what was in the water it was so dark haha. Too freaked out about water snakes and stuff. All the way up the river we decided to stop for a bit then struggled like crazy to get boat started again. Half way back we ran out of gas haha but luckily we had some more in the boat. It was really a nice boat ride and day on the river.
After the boating we were on our way back home to P.E. again. We just needed to stop at Plett Puzzle Park first to run around in a 3D Maze for an hour and a half haha. It was crazy intense – guys vs. girls. Girls won of course! The guys cheated and kept using the emergency exits. Very uncool. But we still won so Nikki and I rock!
Last stop of the day was at Matt’s house to celebrate Matt and Mignon’s engagement But I didn’t take any photos of that …
After the zip-lining, the Big Tree and Marilyn’s Diner we drove to the Bed & Breakfast lodge we were staying at called the Trogon House and Forest Spa. A B&B/hotel smack in the middle of the forest with all the trees It was so crazy nice! Right next to it is a bird sanctuary and Monkeyland. And we got to see a lot of wildlife there! In our bedroom we found the biggest spider I have ever seen! It really wasn’t easy for Ryan to try and catch him when there was a wasp flying around in the room at the same time..! Later I found a bird that flew into a window ad broke it’s wing. Really sad but lucky for him/her that there is a bird sanctuary close. We also saw turtles, horses, different types of monkeys and a lemur. One of the monkeys tried to steal my iPhone!! I was just lucky to be a one centimeter to far away from him haha.
The second stop we did (you can check the first one here) was at the Tsitsikamma Big Tree. The tree is 1000 years old and huge! We checked it out and went for a walk in the woods.
After checking out the Big Tree we drove to Storms River Village to have lunch at Marilyn’s 60′s American Diner. It was an experience! Not sure my my lunch was very ‘american diner-y’ haha but it was nice – calamari and chili cheese fries.
This past weekend was amazing! Went with Ryan, Nikki and Martin to Tsitsikamma and did a million things haha. The first stop was at Tsitsikamma Falls Adventure where we did a bit of Zip-lining!!! Daredevils, I know! I’m so scared of heights it’s not even funny.
Here is something that I completely forgot to blog about. Last year we (me, Ryan, Robin, Martin, Nikki, Preller and Sam) all drove down from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town to go to the last Homegrown party ever on nov 3rd. We only started driving at like 6pm so we got to Cape Town at about 4 in the morning haha. 2 cars 7 peeps. The next day we met up with Zané, Niki, Brett and Alisha to party. We went to the Last Homegrown ever and the next day we all drove back again. It’s about 8 hours one way to drive haha. So here are some photos and a video that my boyfriend and his brother made from that party - which was insane!!
I told you guys that I had something to do nine days ago that I couldn’t tell you about just then… remember? You can check the post here.
Anyway, that sunday I had a photo-shoot with my gorgeous friend Nikki. It was so much fun! We were in our ‘home studio’ fixing with makeup, hair and outfits. Drinking champagne and laughing, trying not to die from the heat! Have to do it again soon
So here are the results with me behind the camera and Nikki in front of it, please tell me what you think! I absolutely love the photos, she is so stunning it’s not even funny!
The Greek restaurant that we went to last night is called Mykonos. I’ve been there once before and the peeps there are super sweet. I just couldn’t remember the name haha. It was me, Ryan, Robin, Nikki, Martin, Mignon and her friend Wesley.
Had a yummy halumi cheese and mushroom type thing to eat. Everyone had a Greek shot except for me, I cannot handle shots at all. No one liked it anyway haha. After Mykonos we went to Pool City and had a couple of drinks before we went home.
The weather has been amazing all day and the water was so warm (about 27 degrees) so after a shower Martin, Nikki, Ryan and I spent the whole day at the beach – we have sunburns to prove it It was an awesome day! I love swimming! Tonight will be a chilled one with movies and snacks at Martin and Nikki’s house. Hope you all are having a great weekend
So I went to the doctor here in Port Elizabeth today and they took some tests so I will know by next what’s going on. Hate it when they have to take blood haha I always end up being so pale that they ask me if I need to lie down for a bit! Anyway, I’m going for dinner and drinks now at the Greek place (can’t remember the name haha) with Ryan, Robin, Nikki, Martin and Mignon. Will be lovely – just hope I don’t get food poisoning this time! I’m just looking forward to a nice and chilled night tonight. I’m wearing my new jacket paired with an old dress. All black and gold today.
This afternoon a package arrived for me from my mom. All the way from Sweden to Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Only takes about 1 1/2 months haha. Good thing she didn’t send me cheese! Instead I got a package of hand made things. Hand made as in made by my mom!
The third thing my mom made are these wrist warmers, not sure if that’s what they are actually called but I’m calling them that from now on haha. They are mine so I can call them whatever I want. I could call them Bernardies if wanted to, but I don’t, so I won’t, As you can see my little logo is on them too. Fashion by Sofie. I like it. Having my own logo. Also the wrist warmers are insanely fluffy and soft. Will be nice when it’s winter (a months from now).
The final thing in my package was this….troll? Yes, a troll. Wearing earrings that I will steal from him. Not sure if my mom made the earrings as well, she said it was all hand made so I’m guessing she did. Did you?
Thank you so much for the presents mom!
So this post is a bit late… It’s now almost the end of January, but I still want to share some of my december 2012 adventures with you guys
Like I told you in one of my previous posts (I think…) I spent december in Cape Town. My dad and his wife came down to visit for two weeks and we had a lovely but intense time haha. Trying to do as much as possible in two weeks and washing it down with drinks
Wine tasting tour haha was supposed to visit 5 different wine farms but only did 2… Fairview and Spice Route. Loved it!
Will post more photos once my dad and his wife stop being too busy in Thailand to send them to me
Obviously the world did not end today haha. Sorry peeps in bunkers all over the world that wasted your day. After going to Table Mountain I had a nice and chilled picnic lunch in the park with Ryan, my dad and Lena today. Baguettes, cheeses, potato salad, greek salad, crostinis and cashews = YUM. The weather was amazing, 36 degrees! We were supposed to go on a sunset cruise this evening but the weather changed into this:
My dad and his wife have been here since Monday and Ryan and I have been doing a whole bunch of stuff with them – been to the beach in Camps Bay, went for a drive and spotted a whale, had a LOT to eat and drink at different restaurants, went to the Waterfront and today we took a cable car up Table Mountain. So beautiful up there with the most amazing view.
Had a lovely day with my love Went to see The Hobbit at the movies with popcorn and everything. The movie was crazy good! I loved it and can’t wait for the next one to come out next year. And the next one after that in 2014. Got Ryan a small little surprise when he got back from work today:
Today’s shopping was ok : ) got there in time to beat the cray cray lines! I’m not really a fan of Mr Price, especially not of their shop in Greenacres, cause they are always so disorganized and packed with people and only have like 2 peeps working. Not a very nice combo – I always feel like running away as soon as I step inside the door. Not saying all their shops are crap, it might be that the ones I’ve been to have been the worst ones. Anyway, I went in and grabbed the stuff, stood in line for 15 minutes, paid and left. But how cute are my new leopard shoes?? : )
I also got a new pair of workout pants from Nike that I love, some new underwear, fluffy slippers, workout t-shirt and a pair of basic black ballerinas. Decided to try a couple of new things as well – Garnier B.B. Cream Miracle Skin Perfector and L’Oréal Collagen Filler for fuller lips. Hard to see any real difference with collagen filler but the B.B. cream made my skin look amazing : )
I guess that’s also hard to see in the photo haha. And yes – I am wearing my new hoodie today again haha. No makeup photo – excuse the psycho look! But seriously – try the B.B. cream I really recommend it.
Now it’s time to keep up with the Kardashians ; ) and wait for Ryan to get home. I’m gonna force him to do a face mask with me haha we need to look cute tomorrow – it’s our 4 year anniversary. I got a few surprises for him that I will share with you guys tomorrow. Later peeps!
Had a really nice weekend On Friday Ryan and I had dinner with Martin and Nikki at Newscafé by the boardwalk. The food was excellent! Some band was playing and and lots of people walking around. They have made the place really nice with the water show fountains (or whatever it is called) and the little shops everywhere. Made a mental note to go and check the shops out.
On Saturday Ryan, Martin, Nikki, Matt, Mignon and I went to watch the rugby at the stadium. Was super cool with all the dressed up people. I think we all wished we had dressed up but it was awesome anyway. My fav ones were the people dressed up as the Simpsons haha. The weather was almost too great hehe the sun was shining and it was crazy hot – the beers went straight to my head ; )
After the rugby we went to eat at a Greek restaurant and the food there was yum! Everyone else went on to go out but I wasn’t feeling so great so I stayed at home and went to sleep. Food poisoning – very uncool. Sunday we chilled at Martin and Nikki’s house watching movies and eating Chinese food and Mc Donald’s : )
From the lovely peeps in my life I got some really nice birthday presents
From Ryan I got a Chanel perfume and a Michael Kors rose gold watch – I’m in love with it!!!! Prettiest watch ever! From Martin and Nikki I got the cute little chihuahua, Ferrero Rocher chocolate, a voucher for Shambala wellness spas and my birthday cake (photo in previous post) amazing! My boyfriends parents sent me a gift so I could go shopping, Super sweet!
My parents sent me nice birthday wishes from sweden and my mom even sent me an mp3 of her singing happy birthday to me
On saturday the 1st of december we had a 70′s themed birthday party for Martin and me. Martin’s birthday was the 29th of november and mine the 3rd of december so we combined them. The party was super cool and I’m happy everyone made an effort to dress up I really wanted to dress up like a hippie and think I managed pretty well with it. Nikki and I transformed their living room into a disco room for the night with a disco light, disco ball, blinking lights, gold gold and more gold, lots of snacks, a beer cake, a birthday cake, champagne and a horribly strong White Russian mix in a punch bowl. All in all super amaze balls haha To finish the night off we all went out to Castro’s and partied in 70′s outfits. Somehow I ended up with with 4 wigs and a hat in my tiny little hippie bag while we were all dancing.
My outfit and the best accessory ever – Benjamin How cute is he??!!
The crew all dressed up in 70′s outfits!
Me and my hippie boyfriend He looked so cool.
My amazingly cute birthday cake – thank you Nikki and martin
Nikki and Martin – disco queen and Angus Young!
My lovely hippie and his brother…Björn Borg! hahah
Mignon and Matt all 70′s style with afro and headbands and all
Preller and Sam posing in their rocking 70s outfits
Some hippie love
Björn Borg (Robin) dancing around the disco lights
Peace Love and Party! You can see the bowl of White Russian mix in the background – so strong that we only finished half of it haha
Last night was so much fun! Like I mentioned in my previous post it was Zané’s birthday, so a whole bunch of her friends had a girls night at a place called Beefcakes to celebrate her. Beefcakes is this pink and fluffy place with drag queens , disco balls, feather boas and pink hats. Awesome. We all played Bitchy Bingo, had drinks and ate and had a laugh. Not too many options for a vegetarian so I went with chilli poppers. It was either that or the nachos and since I had nachos for lunch I went with the poppers. Met a few new peeps which was cool
Lovely day today Had lunch, nachos what else haha, and yummy drinks at the Fat Cactus with Zané and Olivia and am now getting ready for Bitch Bingo today to celebrate Zané’s birthday Got a super nice package from my dad and his wife back in Sweden full of clothes and licorice! Love it!! :):)
Hello again my lovelies! I have been very absent and non-blogging since we left Port Elizabeth. But for a very good reason – Beer. Haha It has been lots of fun this week, the last week before the Ryan and Robins surf trip to Indonesia. And after a heavy night last night I said good bye and off they went this morning. 32 days. Crazy!
We have been drinking beer every day this week because it was a holiday and all, also because every second word Robin said was ‘Beer’ haha. So now it’s time to calm down a bit, get back into healthier habits and explore this city! Not saying I won’t party, I just won’t party all the time, party all the time, party all the tiiiiiiiiime – like Eddie Murphy’s girl wants to. Haha lame I know but anyway….
Here are a few photos from yesterday’s drive with Ryan, Robin and their parents.
Last night turned out to be a little bit heavier than planned – and I am feeling it today. I wasn’t dressed for party (wearing a 3/4 sleeve baseball t-shirt, black pants and heels) but that didn’t stop the little party animal inside me from rocking and partying like it was 1999 (Yes that was a Prince reference). Good night though But I don’t feel like leaving this bed today haha just thankful that Robin had to get his hair cut and came home with something to eat. Spinach and feta bread, Pringles in 3 different flavors, KitKat and apple juice. Yum.
This is how I’m feeling…just a little less fabulous…
Feeling way better today my arms are a bit sore but no fever or anything! Yay! Went shopping with Ryan at Walmer Park, a nice change from Greenacres. So much more organized and clean than Greenacres – loved it. We were trying to find a pair of sweat pants for Ryan but that seems pretty impossible – will just have to wait until saturday when we get to Jeffreys Bay, at least there we know that RVCA will have some. Anyway, I found a pair of shoes at Rage that I fell in love with! I have been looking for a cool pair of nude colored heels since like forever and finally I got a pair. They only got them at Rage 2 days ago.
After the short shopping trip we went to eat lunch at Tarantino’s. Nachos Because nachos rock. Love mexican food. Maybe I used to be mexican in a previous life or something. That would explain why I keep saying things like ‘Sí Señor!’…
I started my day by eating a healthy breakfast, egg white omelette and coffee… Then went for a 5K jog down by the beach. Awesome. Went back home and put on one of Robins old wetsuits and went surfing for an hour with Ryan. More awesomeness. Got back and had cookies and pringles. Not so awesome. And have since been feeling kind of crap. Like I have a fever almost. So I have been lying in bed drinking tea while the guys are playing games. Didn’t expect surfing to be so tough on my poor little body! Ryan just said it might have been too much sun for me today. It was nice though Being pushed onto waves and pretending I was flying with my arms wide like they were my wings and the surfboard my plane haha. I’m so normal, I’m in the water on a surfboard pretending that I’m flying on clouds instead of white water. I did manage to get two waves on my own without being pushed – tough work for my arms. No way I’m standing up on that thing with my balance all over the place. Maybe if I had one of those stand up paddle (SUP) boards… I really wanna try that! A better fitting wetsuit would have been cool also, so the freezing water don’t leak in everywhere. Even my feet hurt now… surfing is not for me, but a great workout! Anyway, time to watch a movie and then sleep. Haha wanted to say time to go to bed but I’m already in bed! Good night! xoxo
I was just looking through some old photos on my computer when I stumbled upon a few photos from a random photo shoot for Streaks Ahead (a hair salon) in Durban. They gave me the craziest alien looking hair and the other poor girl had strings all over her face haha. It was quite fun though, everything but putting that nasty cocktail cherry in my mouth!
The last photo was obviously not going to be used haha it was just for fun. The whole thing was just for fun I guess – never heard from them about what happened to the photos, but they were supposed to be used in an ad on East Coast Radio‘s website for Streaks Ahead. I didn’t even get all the photos from the shoot which is kind of sad, it would have been fun to see the rest but ah well.
I kept my promise to myself and went jogging this morning Did a 8K jog/power walk. It was a beautiful morning and after my jog I was feeling on top of the world and have been all day really, in such a good mood. Went for an early lunch at the Bridge Street Brewery with Ryan. I feel like we go there a LOT, and we do, but I mean why not when the food is super yum and the place is really cool. I was told by my dear boyfriend today that no one really says ‘super yum’ which I thought was crazy so now I’m going to say it more often just because haha. Anyway, I had a
super yum lovely greek salad, trying to be healthier and all but I suspect it really wasn’t all that healthy cause I mostly just ate the feta cheese and the olives, and to finish it all off I had a KitKat haha. Ryan had the bread board and home made style fries (chips). The bread board is probably the best thing to eat at Bridge Street Brewery, if you don’t eat meat cause I really wouldn’t know what the meat is like.
Outfit of the day: Sweater from YDE, Sunglasses from MNG / Mango, Leggings from Von Zipper, Belt from Foschini, Shoes from Mr.P./Mr. Price, Bag from Chanel and my lovely new (got it yesterday) bracelet from YDE / Young Designers Emporium.
Had a very chilled Friday. Mother Nature heard me and gave us a beautiful day here in Port Elizabeth. Spent most of the day on the balcony in the sun listening to music. Wonderful. A perfect day to do nothing. Can’t wait for tomorrow when Martin and Nikki gets back from playing with the Big Five! I’m not jealous… I just wanna play with giraffes. Nikki and I already played with lions back in 2009/2010. Anyway people, see you later
Hope you all have a lovely weekend
