Les Misérable makes you miserable.

On Sunday Nikki and I went to the movies at Walmer Park.
We got popcorn, chocolates and drinks and were all smiley and happy
and excited as we sat down to watch Les Misérable. Walking out
after the movie both of us were almost crying. We both did our best
not to cry during the movie but it was hard. Les Misérable
really did make us miserable. Feeling empty and without a cause,
questioning the meaning of life, trying to find a purpose. But wow
what a movie. It has been a looooong time since a movie made me
feel as much as this one did. Def one of the best movies I’ve seen.
I think I need to buy it…so I can watch it alone in the dark and
cry. The movie deserves that. Deserves my tears. Everyone’s acting
was amazing. Anne Hathaway
blew me away (that’s a funny sentence haha) with her performance.
The biggest surprise to me was http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/hugh_jackman” target=”_blank” rel=”rottentomatoes”>Hugh Jackman. He
was amazing. That’s all I can say, amazing!

When we got back to Martin and Nikki’s house we were greeted by reality and had to try escape the feeling of emptiness the movie left in us. A glass of wine and a bit of braaing helped. :) Oh and what also helped a bit was checking out Eddie Redmayne photos on Google haha we both have a little crush on him.
Sorry Ryan and Martin ;) We still love you the most!

  1. Nauw, my poor baby. A hug from Mummy!

  2. “Blew me away” haha Sofie, that was awesome. i betcha not many caught that one. During the movie I was feeling sad but the last finale song as everyone was singing, had me leaving the theatre feeling like there is always hope even when we think we can’t endure any more pain. That when we think we’ve lost it all, we have the courage to overco e our suffering. Suprisenly, I held it together pretty well, even during the “My life has killed the dream I dreamed” (until the fight scene where the little kid dies….then I lost it! When Hugh’s character is dying is when I really lost it. Whew. When is the movie out on DVD?

    • I love that you got it haha I’ve got a weird sense of humor so it’s always nice when others find the same things funny :)
How wonderful to walk out the movie feeling that way! I just pretty much wanted to something.. anything meaningful really. Like I needed a cause to fight for haha. Maybe I should just be my own cause. Jean Valjean wasn’t that Hugh’s character’s name in the movie? Anyway insanely sad when he died.. :(
Not sure when it comes out on DVD but probably soon. I will def buy it.

  3. Oh I been wanting to see it for a while, but haven’t yet, just scared it’s way too depressing for me, can’t deal with those moviea, ahh what to do!? it is a must see though isn’t it? x

  4. Les Mis is hard to watch. The story is very realistic in terms of depth, characters and development. Jean Valjean is an interesting character to follow, especially the occurrences in the end. Always hoping for a better outcome. Sadly life does not offer infinite sunshine days.

  5. It really is a sad movie..and sometimes i wondered if it needed to have all that singing..I mean there were awkward parts that didn’t require singing..i guess.
